    Privacy Policy

    What changed

    • Added a new Friends section explaining exactly what we store when you use Friends.
    • Added sections on your religious information, contacts and finding friends, and age rules.
    • Updated how your data is stored: Reforged now has optional accounts, and your study data syncs through your own iCloud.
    • Added your rights for people in the EU, UK, California and other US states.

Reforged respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how the Reforged mobile applications for iOS and Android collect, use, store, and disclose information.

    1. Information We Collect

Reforged keeps much of your study content on your device and in your own iCloud. Depending on how you use the app, we may process the following categories of information:

    A. Information you create or save in the app

    • Bible reading progress
    • Bookmarks and recently viewed passages
    • Verse highlights
    • Bible notes
    • Journal entries and reflections
    • Memory verse collections, review history, and spaced repetition progress
    • Learning track and lesson progress
    • Streaks, badges, XP, and other in-app progress data
    • App settings and preferences, such as theme, font, translation, reminder times, and reading format
    • Optional profile choices, such as display name, avatar, or profile photo

    B. Account data

Accounts are optional. If you create one, we store:

    • Your email address
    • Your sign-in method (email and password, or Sign in with Apple)
    • Your display name and first name
    • Your avatar
    • Your XP, level, and streak, mirrored to your account profile
    • Your date of birth, used for age checks

    C. Friends data

If you use Friends, we store the information described in the Friends section below, including your push notification token if you allow encouragement.

    D. Information used to provide app features

When you use online features, the app may send limited request data to third-party content providers, such as:

    • Bible passage references
    • Search queries
    • Translation or chapter requests
    • Audio playback requests
    • Verse-sharing background image requests

These requests may be sent to providers used by the app, including Bible and audio content services and image providers.

    E. Photos and media you choose to use

If you choose to set a profile photo or share generated verse images, the app may access:

    • Your camera
    • Your photo library
    • Your device storage or gallery

This access is only used to provide the feature you select.

    F. Notifications and reminder preferences

If you enable notifications, the app stores your reminder preferences and uses them to schedule local notifications on your device.

    2. Cookies

When you use Reforged in your web browser, we use small files called cookies. Here's exactly what they do.

The cookie that keeps you signed in

When you sign in on reforgedapp.org, your browser stores a small sign-in cookie. Without it, you'd have to sign in again every time you opened a new page. This cookie simply tells the app it's you, and it's removed when you sign out or clear your browser data. Clearing it is safe. The only effect is that you'll be asked to sign in again next time.

    Small preference cookies

We also store two tiny preferences in your browser: whether you've dismissed the cookie notice (so we don't ask you twice) and your light or dark theme choice (so your reading stays comfortable).

That's the whole list. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't follow you around the web.

    3. How We Use Your Information

    We use information to:

    • Save your reading, lesson, memory, and journal progress
    • Personalize your in-app experience
    • Provide Bible reading, search, note-taking, journaling, memory, audio, and sharing features
    • Send optional reminders and notifications if you enable them
    • Load scripture, audio, and verse-sharing images from third-party providers
    • Enforce age rules and keep people safe
    • Deliver encouragement from your friends
    • Prevent abuse
    • Maintain app functionality, security, and reliability

    4. Data Storage and Security

Reforged has optional accounts. You can sign in with an email and password, or with Sign in with Apple.

Your personal study content, like your journal, notes, memory progress, and preferences, is stored on your device and synced across your devices through your own Apple iCloud (CloudKit).

Your account, profile, community, and Friends data is stored on our servers, hosted on Supabase and managed through Lovable.

We take reasonable steps to protect information processed by the app. However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

    5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

Friends see only what you chose to share with them.

We may share limited information only in the following circumstances:

    • With third-party service or content providers when necessary to deliver Bible text, audio, search, or image features
    • When you choose to share content using your device's sharing tools
    • If required by law, or to protect someone's safety
    • In connection with a merger, acquisition, or transfer of business assets

We do not share your journal entries, notes, or other personal app content with advertisers.

    6. Third-Party Services

Reforged relies on third-party providers to supply certain content and functionality, such as:

    • Bible text APIs
    • Bible audio providers
    • Verse image/background providers
    • Scriptural reference or concordance services
    • Supabase (hosting, managed through Lovable) for accounts and Friends
    • Apple's Push Notification service, to deliver encouragement from friends
    • Apple iCloud (CloudKit), to sync your study data across your devices

Those providers may process request data according to their own privacy policies and terms.

    7. Data Retention

Study content stored on your device and in your iCloud stays there until you delete it, reset the app, or uninstall the app, subject to normal device and iCloud behavior.

Friends data is kept while your account exists, with two exceptions: invites expire after 7 days, and unanswered friend requests expire after 30 days.

In the app, Friends > "Delete my Friends data" removes your friendships, sharing choices, activity summary, invites, requests, push tokens, and encouragement log. Deleting your account deletes all of it. You can also email us at boaz.briddick@gmail.com.

If third-party providers process requests to deliver content, they may retain limited request data according to their own policies.

    8. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to:

    • Access your personal data
    • Correct your personal data
    • Request deletion of your data
    • Export your data
    • Disable notifications
    • Remove profile photos or in-app content
    • Opt out of marketing communications, if any are ever introduced

If you're in the EU or UK

We rely on these legal bases: providing the service you ask for; our legitimate interest in safety and preventing abuse; and your explicit consent for sharing religious information and for being findable. You can withdraw consent at any time. You have the right to access, correct, delete, and export your data, to object to processing, and to complain to your data protection authority.

If you're in California or another US state

You have the right to know what we collect, and to delete or correct it, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. We do not sell or share personal information. We use sensitive information only to provide the service you request.

Your data may be processed in the United States.

You can also delete much of your study content directly inside the app or by uninstalling the app.

    9. Account and Data Deletion Requests

You may request deletion of your Reforged account and associated app data at any time by using our account deletion request form.

To submit a request, visit the Account Deletion page, enter the email address associated with your account, and send the generated request email. We may contact you to verify ownership before deleting account-related data.

In the app, Friends > "Delete my Friends data" removes your Friends data immediately.

    Request Account Deletion

    10. Children's Privacy

Accounts, Groups, and Friends are for people 13 and older. We ask for your date of birth to enforce this. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and if we learn we have, we delete it.

    11. Friends

Reforged has an optional Friends feature for people 13 and older. Here's exactly what we handle:

    • Friend connections: which two accounts are friends, and when they connected.
    • Invites: invite codes you create (they expire after 7 days), who created them, and who used them.
    • Friend requests: requests between adults who chose to be findable. Pending requests expire after 30 days.
    • Sharing choices: what you let friends see (your streak, whether you read today, chapters read this week, verses memorized) and whether you allow encouragement. Everything is off until you turn it on. We also record when you gave consent and which version of the consent text you saw.
    • Activity summary: only if you turn sharing on, we store a small summary of your totals (current streak, read today, chapters read this week, number of verses memorized, and when it was updated). Friends see only the items you chose to share. Friends never see what you read, your notes, prayers, journal, or which verses you're memorizing.
    • Your first name or display name, which friends and people who find you can see.
    • Encouragement: a log of who sent which preset encouragement to whom, and when. There's no free text, so we don't store any messages. We use this log to enforce limits and prevent abuse.
    • Push notifications: if you allow encouragement, we store your device's push notification token so your friends' encouragement can reach you. We send it to Apple's Push Notification service to deliver the notification.
    • Muting, blocking, and removing: your choices are stored so they're respected.

    12. Your Religious Information

Sharing your Bible reading or memorization with friends may reveal information about your religious beliefs, which some laws treat as sensitive.

    • We only share it with friends if you explicitly turn it on, separately for each item.
    • It's never on by default.
    • You can turn it off at any time, and turning it off stops sharing.
    • We don't use this data for advertising, profiling, or anything other than showing it to the friends you chose.
    • We never sell it.

    13. Contacts and Finding Friends

    Invite from Contacts

This uses the iPhone's built-in contact picker. Reforged only receives the one contact you tap, so it can open a message to them with your invite link. We don't get access to the rest of your contacts, and we don't store the contact you chose.

Find friends on Reforged (adults 18+ only, optional)

If you turn on "Let people with my email find me", we store a scrambled (keyed, one-way) fingerprint of your verified sign-in email, so people who have your email in their contacts can find you. They see only your first name and can send you a friend request. Nothing is shared until you accept.

When you use "Find friends", Reforged asks for permission to read your Contacts, reads only the email addresses on your device, scrambles them (SHA-256) on your device, and sends only those scrambled values to our server to check for matches. The server compares them to members who opted in, returns only the matches, and discards the list. We don't store or keep your contacts or the scrambled values you send. We keep a log of the time of each lookup to limit abuse.

You have to turn on being findable yourself before you can look for others. You can turn it off at any time, which deletes your fingerprint and any pending requests to you. Emails hidden with Sign in with Apple's "Hide My Email" can't be matched.

    14. Age and Children

Reforged's Friends features are for people 13 and older. We ask for your date of birth to enforce this. It's stored on your account and can't be changed after you set it. We also use it to keep people under 18 from connecting with adults, and to limit finding friends by contacts to adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if we learn we have, we delete it.

There's no open chat, no public profiles, and no public search. Friends connect only by invite code, invite link, or an accepted request. You can mute, remove, or block anyone, and you can report concerns to us at boaz.briddick@gmail.com.

    15. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version and revise the Effective Date above.
